Changes to Your Order

I understand that plans sometimes change.

  • Design changes must be requested at least 14 days before your collection or delivery date.
  • Flavour changes cannot be made within 7 days of collection or delivery.
  • Unfortunately, no major design changes can be accepted within 14 days of your event.
  • Any requested alterations may incur additional charges depending on the complexity of the changes.

Please contact me by phone or text on 07886 396254 if you need to discuss your order.

Allergens & Dietary Requirements

Your safety is extremely important to me.

  • It is the customer’s responsibility to inform me of any allergies or dietary requirements before placing an order.
  • All allergen information will be supplied with your order and clearly labelled on your cake box.
  • All products are prepared in a kitchen that handles allergens including (but not limited to) gluten, eggs, milk, nuts and soya.
  • Whilst every effort is made to minimise cross-contamination, I cannot guarantee any product is completely free from allergens.
  • It is the customer’s responsibility to inform anyone consuming the cake of any allergens present.
  • Wendy’s Home Cakery accepts no liability for allergic reactions where allergen information has been provided.

Cancellations & Postponements

If you need to cancel your order:

  • Your 50% booking fee is non-refundable, as it covers administration, design work, ingredients and reserved diary space.
  • If your event is postponed, I will do my best to transfer your booking to a new date, subject to availability.
  • If the requested date is unavailable, the cancellation policy will apply.

If I have to cancel your order due to exceptional circumstances beyond my control (such as serious illness, accident or unforeseen emergencies), you will receive a full refund of any payments made.

Design Approval

Before collection or delivery, I will send you photographs of your completed cake for approval.

Please note:

  • Once your cake has been approved and collected or delivered, Wendy’s Home Cakery cannot accept responsibility for any damage occurring afterwards.
  • Inspiration photographs are welcomed; however, I will never produce an exact copy of another cake designer’s work. Every cake is individually handcrafted and will have its own unique finish.

Collection & Delivery

Collection times will be agreed in advance.

Once a cake has been collected, responsibility for its safe transport, storage and handling transfers to the customer.

For safe transportation:

  • Place your cake on a flat surface such as the boot or footwell of your vehicle.
  • Never transport cakes on a car seat.
  • Drive carefully, avoiding harsh braking and sharp corners.
  • Keep your vehicle cool during warm weather.
  • Never leave your cake in a hot vehicle.

If any damage occurs after collection, I may be able to repair the cake where possible, subject to availability and an additional charge.

Tiered Cakes

Tiered cakes contain internal supports including cake boards and wooden or food-safe plastic dowels.

These supports must be removed before serving.

Instructions can be provided if required.

Cake Storage

Fondant Cakes

  • Store in the original cake box in a cool, dry room.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight, radiators and heat.
  • Do not refrigerate unless advised, as condensation may cause the fondant to become sticky or colours to run.
  • When stored correctly, fondant cakes are best enjoyed within 7–10 days.

Buttercream Cakes

  • Store in the refrigerator if not being served within 24 hours.
  • Remove from the fridge approximately 2–3 hours before serving to allow the cake to reach room temperature.
  • Always keep away from direct sunlight and heat.
  • Cakes containing fresh cream, fruit, mascarpone or custard fillings must remain refrigerated.

Freezing

Most sponge cakes freeze beautifully.

Wrap slices individually in cling film before placing them into an airtight container or freezer bag.

Freeze for up to 3 months.

Allow to thaw naturally at room temperature before serving.

Venue & Display

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure a suitable table and display area are available.

During hot weather, cakes should be displayed in a cool, shaded or air-conditioned room wherever possible.

Please note that buttercream, chocolate and fondant decorations can soften or melt in warm temperatures.

Once the cake has been set up at the venue, Wendy’s Home Cakery cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by heat, humidity, venue conditions or accidental handling.

Non-Edible Decorations

Some cakes contain non-edible items including:

  • Cake dowels
  • Internal cake boards
  • Wired sugar flowers
  • Ribbon
  • Acrylic or wooden cake toppers

These items must be removed before serving.

If fresh flowers are supplied by your florist, it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure they are food-safe and non-toxic.

Wendy’s Home Cakery accepts no responsibility for flowers added after collection or delivery.

Photography

I reserve the right to photograph all cakes and use these images for my website, portfolio and social media.

Every cake is handmade from scratch and individually decorated, meaning slight variations in colour, finish and decoration may occur. This is part of the bespoke nature of my work.

Complaints

I take great pride in every cake I create.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of your order, please contact me as soon as possible and within 24 hours of collection or delivery.

Please provide details by:

Email: wendyshomecakery@gmail.com

I will always do my best to resolve any concerns fairly and promptly.
